Exercise The French Hen - Final step

Here are three logos which were chosen by my family. I prefer the right one, the shape of egg and I think it works best. The logo on the left has two elements and the hen shape looks more as pigeon. I think it is not appropriate. I would recommend two colors: light green and brown/yellow and black and white versions, they work pretty well and the beer mat looks good. I think that I would work more with typeface and maybe I was too stick to the shape of Hen but I like the logo because it works on all visualization. The TFH logo works also good but in the outside visualization I do not like the plate somehow, it is not good (maybe the shape of the plate should be a circle).

It was really hard exercise. I had big problems to find a motive for the logo. The process of idea taking down was very (extremely) slow. For long time I was not able to see a positive way in developing it. The shape of egg in the preferred logo pop up at visualization step. I wanted to make a simple clear logo. I think in reality I would need more time to develop a logo. I am sure that I am not able to make better result.

I have drawn another idea by iPad in a sketch book application. I wanted to simplify the illustration of a hen.

and here is result in photoshop. The last idea was to frame the head. My idea was to use a shape of egg for the frame.

here are visualizations:
As I made a visualization of the last idea some new improvement came to my mind. The name of the restaurant could be connected to the shape of the egg and I think it looks good.

working on mood boards:
17.12.11: I tried some combinations of element but it appeared that one element is enough for a logo. Today morning I played with detail of hen head and I like the simplicity of the logo top right. As I was playing with the visualization I made a TFH logo with a triangle which represents a pecker. This logo reminded me KFC fast food chain but I could imagine it on the cocktails menu and napkins. I am not sure about the red color, I think it needs some more fresh color not so chili (taste, ketchup, I see KFC, McDonalds)?!? Certainly red is not correct here. We need feel of cocktails, wine, coffee, relax!!!

I have started to visualize the ideas. The cliché is good starting point.
Just a morning idea (a drinking hen).

According to respondents ages 18 to 24, the most popular features of a brand were good quality, trustworthiness and workability—three traits not usually associated with the stereotypical image of free-wheeling youth (source: http://www.cmo.com/branding/brand-appeal-among-young-adults).

Heineken has always appealed to the young adult consumer. One of my spearhead objectives is that Heineken retains that appeal. Over the last few years, beer has been under pressure in clubs and at parties because of the introduction of mixed drinks, which are regarded as "hipper". We must ensure that our beer remains relevant.
....... For example, there are rebellious brands such as Gsus and Quicksilver that are latched onto by young people. There are also a few global brands that are very successful, such as Nike and Sony, in part because they've brought out special editions for select young consumers.(source: http://www.allaboutbranding.com/index.lasso?article=402)

A change in the letterhead and advertisement

When I discussed the work as usual in my work we decided for other logo which is simpler. It is true that the design is somehow softer.

24.12.11 / 30.12.12 I made b&w copy and everything looks readable.
